Systems Coaching for High-Ability, Neurodivergent Students

Moving beyond temporary fixes to develop sustainable systems by leveraging individuals' unique strengths.

“A love of learning has a lot to do with learning that we are loved.”

Your child is capable.
The system around them isn't working.

I'm a systems coach for parents and students. As a former educator, teacher leader, and department head — now completing a PhD in Educational Psychology — I help families of high-achieving, neurodivergent students rebuild the structures, communication, and daily rhythms that make lasting change possible.

I work at the intersection of emotion, cognition, and action — because how a student feels directly shapes how they use their executive function in real life.

If this sounds familiar

  • Your child is clearly intelligent — but their grades, follow-through, or emotional regulation don't reflect it
  • You've become the manager of their schedule, their motivation, and their mood
  • Tutoring, therapy, planners, apps, rewards, and consequences haven't produced lasting change
  • Family conflict has escalated — around schoolwork, screens, routines, or all three
  • You're watching your child shut down, avoid, or melt down — and nothing you do reaches them
  • Everyone addresses one piece. Nobody is looking at the full picture

What Makes This Different

Tutoring addresses cognition. Therapy addresses emotion. ADHD coaching targets action. Each works on one piece and leaves the rest untouched. That's why nothing sticks.

Systems coaching works where they meet. I coach you — the parent — because you hold the most leverage to shift the emotional climate, the daily structures, and the communication patterns that shape how your child functions. And I coach students directly when they're ready to build systems that work with their brain, not against it.

I deliver that coaching daily, via text. Not once a week in an office. Every day, in the real moments where the pattern either breaks or repeats.

Tutors work on cognition. Therapists work on emotion.
I work where they meet — and I coach the people who hold the system together.

Emotion, cognition, action

Addressed together, as the interconnected system they are. Not in silos.

The system, not the symptom

The family system is the unit of change. When the system shifts, everything shifts.

The Research Behind This Model

Daily text-based coaching is not a workaround. It is an evidence-based delivery method with published outcomes.

86% achieved clinical improvement through text-based coaching

Participants in a live messaging coaching program showed reliable improvement in anxiety or reached subclinical levels by end of care. Each text session predicted lower anxiety that same week and the following week.

Daily texts reduced anxiety by 23% over three months

The Text4Hope program at the University of Alberta — 50,000+ subscribers — showed statistically significant reductions in anxiety, depression, and stress through daily CBT-aligned text messages.

89% recovery rate with between-session coaching support

Among 1,496 adults receiving coaching with asynchronous between-session messaging, nearly 89% achieved reliable improvement or recovery from moderate anxiety and depression.

Personalized SMS coaching drives sustained behavior change

A study using the COM-B model found personalized text coaching significantly improved capabilities, perceived opportunities, and the coaching relationship. The human connection was the key mechanism automated tools could not replicate.

Your Coach

I'm Sangeetha Appavoo. Before entering psychology, I spent years in the classroom as an educator, teacher leader, and department head. I've seen the system from the inside. Now, as a PhD candidate in Educational Psychology, I bring that lived experience together with clinical training and peer-reviewed research to do something different.

I work at the intersection of emotion, cognition, and action — because how a student feels directly shapes how they use their executive function in real life. I don't separate the anxiety from the avoidance, or the avoidance from the family conflict, or the family conflict from the daily structure. They're one system.

I work completely remotely. All sessions via Google Meet. All daily coaching via text.
